EMERGENCY Procedures:

Name of person to contact if parent(s) cannot be reached, Address, Phone, etc. In a medical emergency, the following procedures are to be followed:

bulletParent or guardian will be notified immediately.
bulletSaukville rescue will be notified to treat the child. If the child needs hospitalization, the child will be transported to St. Mary's - ozaukee located on Port Washington Road in Mequon.
bulletAny accident resulting in the death of a child while in the care of the center or serious injury requiring professional medical treatment such as but not limited to a broken bone, a burn, a concussion, a wound requiring stitches, or the ingestion of poison while the child is in the care of the center will be reported to the licensing Department of Health and Family Services Division of Children & Family services.

 

 First Aid

 A first aid pack needs to be with teachers at all times of the day, both in the classroom and in the outside play area.  When staff takes children on a fieldtrip, a first aid pack must be taken.  After every incident an injury report must be completed and logged.

 Fire

Upon the sound of the fire alarm, children need to line up and follow a teacher out the back door for each room in an orderlymanner.  Infants are to be placed in cribs and wheeled out the back door.  Once staff and children are outside, they need to walk through back gate and wait in parking area until notice is given that the building is clear.  An attendance sheet for each classroom must be in possession of a teacher and roll call taken when all children are outside.  The Administrator will do the final walk through to ensure that all children and staff have exited the building.  In the event the Administor is not on the premises,  a designated teacher will do the final walk through.  Designated fire evacuation routes must be posted by each door in the classroom.

 Tornadoes

Upon the sound of the siren, children need to line up and follow teacher down to the southeast wall in the basement in an orderly manner.  The Administrator will do a final walk through to ensure all children and staff are out of the classroom areas.  An attendance sheet for each classroom must be in possession of a teacher and roll call taken when all children are in the basement.  Staff and children will remain in basement until the all clear signal is given.  The basement will be equipped with a box containing a flashlight and working radio.  Each classroom will have a tornado box to bring appropriate play things and diapers/wipes to bring to the basement.
