Positive Guidance
Contact: Lisa Lecher
Our positive guidance policy is to begin with an environment, which
reinforces positive behavior in children. If a child behaves inappropriately, we
will use a number of methods to encourage positive behavior. Depending on the
individual child and situation, we use: redirection, logical consequences and
offer choices, and quiet time. We attempt to focus our energy on recognizing the
positive behavior in all children with rewards and attention. This in turn
increases the child's self-esteem, and encourages positive behavior. Below are
the types of positive reinforcements and consequences the staff will do with the
children.
Positive Reinforcements
Verbal Praise
Special Recognition
Positive gestures or facial expressions
Behavior charts (ie earning stars)
Stickers, stamps, special prizes
